Out of the blue about a few days ago, my truck started rattling really bad at idle, almost like as if it was on the 12v tune, but it wasnt. Also sounds like i have an old noisy double disc clutch... (Thats probably the best way to describe it), But its an automatic lol. Its been doing this for the last few days and is consistent I have a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL with about 35k on it. I am getting a very slight rattle/chatter noise from the front half of the car at idle in any gear. When I start to accelerate the noise goes away. Also when the engine is cold and the idle is still high the noise cannot be heard. It doesn't sound like anything major, only a car person. When the engine is idling there is an uneven noise (halfway between a rattle and a knock). In gear and driving it goes away, which makes me think its gearbox related. In the old days one could put this down to a noisy lay shaft, but from what I have read transverse mounted front wheel drive cars do not have them In conclusion the mechanic agreed with me that the rattling is a loose nut/bolt or screw around the exhaust, cat converter area nothing major as it was rattling at stops and in D-drive gear but as soon as I changed to neutral or turn on the heater or drive on,the rattling stops so it was a quick fit of tightening the loose bolt or nut and all.

The higher speed rattle is so hard to describe. Inside the car it sounds like a light metal rattle, under the hood it sounds like something more substantial.
